Family Gatherings are a special way to help families with special needs children. Many times the disorders we treat are so rare that families have never seen children who look like their children; many times the families have searched for years for answers to questions or solutions to problems. We bring the families of the different disorders together to share information, obtain news on the latest research or medical findings and just visit with each other.
Our most recent Family Gathering was for Cohen syndrome. Participants from all across the US, Canada, and even as far away as Australia gathered for a unique conference this past summer. The Sixth National (International!) Cohen Syndrome Family Meeting was attended by approximately 85 people. Attendees described the gathering as “extremely informative” and said the meeting provided a sense of relief for the families and gave them all an opportunity for “incredible bonding.”
We look forward to continuing these educational family gatherings. Stay tuned for more information!
